Founder of Snehadeep Trust for the disabled\r\nIs the recipient of National Award received from his Excellency, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul\r\nKalam in 2004 for best employee among the disabled in the country and for\r\nsocial service. He was also conferred the Governor\'s Award in 2002 by the\r\nKarnataka Government for his services to the society. Being orphan and vision\r\nimpaired, he had to struggle at every stage of his life before becoming a\r\nmanager in a nationalized bank. After a long struggle in school, he faced\r\ndifficulty in getting admission to the college because of financial problems and\r\nvisual impairedness. He was also denied a MBA seat in the Bangalore\r\nUniversity. Maala Kolakar hails from Bagalkot District in Karnataka who is visually impaired\r\nsince birth. She belongs to a family of farmers who could not support her education\r\nowing to financial inconsistencies. After completing schooling, Maala desired to\r\nstudy further and approached Samarthanam looking for tuition support. Her verve\r\nand learning ability immediately got her into a graduate course at Bengaluru. Apart\r\nfrom excelling in her studies, Maala is a born athlete. “Even as a kid she was always\r\neager to play and run at home and school,” says Maala\'s parents. Maala is a\r\npassionate marathon runner which got her placed in the \'Ultra Marathon\' organized\r\nby Samarthanam. She ran a distance of 150 km from Mysuru to Bengaluru from\r\n23rd to January 25th, 2019. It was the first-ever blind run and Maala is a proud\r\nparticipant along with other runners. 3rd place in wall climbing. Veerabhadra has the skills of acting and anchoring. Having been educated in a Blind\r\nSchool, Veerabhadra continued to discover his love for classical music, dance and\r\nsinging. He has a gift of composing songs in Kannada and has appeared on the\r\nregional talent show on television. He is grateful for his family\'s support who treated\r\nhim one among them. Veerabhadra joined Sunadha in 2012 that allowed him to\r\ndevelop and fine tune his skills and also offered him an opportunity to identify himself\r\nas a disabled artist. Veerabhadra has gone across the seas to display his innate\r\ntalent. He has also undergone a 3 month soft skill and basic computer training course\r\nto improve his chances of employability. He also wears the hat of a music teacher at\r\nSamarthanam where he helps out Primary School students learn music. For young\r\npeople such as trying to get into the art sector, there\'s Sunadha. At Sunadha, we go\r\nbeyond interesting identities of art and disability that focuses on the individual\'s\r\nprogression from the visual arts to performance. Balasubramanyam is a versatile singer of the Sunadha Troupe. Hailing from\r\nKakinada, Andhra Pradesh, he developed an interest for singing at an early age.\r\nWhile performing in 2014 at a regional programme on Suvanna Channel, he was\r\nnoticed by Samarthanam & was invited to be part of the art & culture troupe.\r\nBalasubramanyam has received free training from Samarthanam in the areas of\r\nmusic and computer skills. He has travelled across the US & UK as part of\r\nSamarthanam\'s performances. We are constantly amazed at the way our visually\r\nimpaired beneficiaries communicate with music. While he sings during special\r\nevents, he has also honed in the skills to be part of the Business Process\r\nOutsourcing unit of Samarthanam. Ballurappa-Sunadha Meet Balurappa, the ever-smiling rhythm pad player of\r\nSunadha\'s musical troupe. Sunadha is the cultural wing of Samarthanam Trust for\r\nthe Disabled that identifies artistic talent among PwDs. Balurappa was introduced\r\nto Samarthanam in 2010 through his best friend and better-half Savithri. Balurappa,\r\nbeing visually impaired is a self-taught musician and has a skill for mimicry. He is\r\nextremely thankful to Samarthanam for focussing on building his soft skills through\r\ntraining over the years and offering him employment. He now is a confident speaker,\r\ncan make music and balances the rhythm of life despite his impairment.\r\nSunadha has honed in his skills as a musical artist and given him the platform to\r\nperform across stages. Suma and Sridevi are childhood friends. Both have a hearing and speech loss but\r\ntheir passions are similar - dancing. Born in Bangalore to daily wage laborers, Suma\r\nstruggled to make ends meet. Suma came to Samarthanam in 2008 and since then\r\nthere has been no turning back. The mentoring and training provided to Suma has\r\nmade her a confident Bharatanatyam dancer who ably moves with the rhythm.\r\nSridevi while performing relies on eye contact and on special lighting\r\narrangements.Through Sunadha\'s training these artists endeavor to bridge the\r\ncultural gap and build experiences gained through travelling the world and\r\nassociating with people. They go a long way towards building confidence and\r\ncreating opportunities for economic self-sufficiency. Each stage performance\r\ndelivered also aids in enhancing the awareness on the inherent abilities and talent\r\nof the disabled. Suma has peformed across the USA, UK, Malayasia and\r\nBangkok.Samarthanam currently provides opportunities to around 100 artists with\r\ndisabilities to train and perform at various events. Sridevi is a versatile dance of the Sunadha Troupe. Though speech and hearing\r\nimpaired, she can dance to a beat. She conveys stories and thoughts through her\r\ndance performances. Born to a large family of five siblings, Sridevi faced a profound\r\nhearing and speech loss right at birth. Visits to the hospital were futile. Her parents\r\nprovided her the support she needed. She started dance training when she was just\r\nabout 15 years old and since then her hard work has paid off. Her accomplishments\r\nso far are a testament to her and her family\'s determination to help her succeed.\r\nSridevi is now a professional classical dancer and has performed across Bangkok,\r\nUS, and UK along with her group excelling in every dance performance. She is\r\ngrateful to Samarthanam for providing enabling settings that shape the passions of\r\ndisabled artists. Bharathi, born visually impaired to parents in Sugur, did not consider her visual\r\nimpairment a disability as she had the support of her parents. Soon after joining the\r\nMahaRishi school for the blind, she found it hard to manage life alone. The\r\nexperience of studying in a boarding school at a tender age of 5 enabled her to\r\nbecome independent which has helped her face life. Though not academically\r\nproficient, she proudly says she can speak 5 languages and juggles many roles.\r\nShe had the inclination for music at a young age and received prizes for singing and\r\nalso worked as a music teacher. She attended music classes and recently joined\r\nthe orchestra at Samarthanam. She believes singing is her hobby and enjoys light\r\nmusic. She has a word of advice to everyone - She believes no one should be idle\r\nand make use of the opportunity at the right time.Samarthanam Trust works\r\ntowards tackling disability and the stigma attached providing beneficiaries a\r\nplatform for talented artists to display their skills. Isai is a budding artist with a flair for music and singing. His fingers run effortlessly\r\non the keyboard. All of 24, hailing from Salem and born to a welder father and house\r\nmaker, Isai is an example of confidence and courage. Isai had the privilege of\r\nstudying in schools for the blind all along his life. He picked up learning to play the\r\nharmonium at a young age of 11. He is academically proficient having topped high\r\nschool. Isai is good at his work and handles International calling during the day. He\r\ncan replicate music just by listening to it once. Despite facing challenges in\r\nchildhood & facing resistance from his parents from pursuing music, he continued to\r\npractice music. 18 years of living away from home has made him an independent\r\nperson learning to face all odds. Isai was among the first batch of LRC Chennai and\r\nsuccessively joined Samarthanam in 2016. He plays music to beat away the blues\r\naway and one day his singing caught the attention of the Founder who gave him the\r\nopportunity to join the cultural troupe of Samarthanam. Isai has incredible talent and\r\nwith the nurture of Sunadha he can go on to become a musical legend. On disability\r\nand art, Isai believes music is in ones genes and that music has no barriers. Ajey E was born on 20th June 1994 in Ajjenahalli sira taluk Tumkur. His Father is\r\nEranna and Mother is Shivamma. By birth he was partially bind as a child developed\r\ninterest in Sports. In 2017 joined Samarthanam for DDU GKY training program.\r\nParticipated in wall climbing for national in Jammu & Kashmir and he has finished\r\n20+ which includes 5K,10K, 20K, 42K marathon and ultra marathon which was\r\nconducted by Samarthanam Mysore to Bangalore 150K, recently Participated 42k\r\nmarathon in Pune . Her first outstanding achievement was\r\nwinning the first prize at the National level wall climbing event held at Jammu. She is\r\nthe 2nd visually impaired Indian runner to finish a full marathon completing 42.2 km\r\nin 5 hours. She also enjoys rock climbing and Cricket.\r\nCurrently, Kavya plays for the Karnataka Cricket team and wishes to be a part of the\r\nIndian team in the future. Professionally she in\r\ndancer, she is learning Bharathnatyam and folk dancer under the guidance of her\r\ndance Guru Smt. Jayalakshmi\r\nJetendra. Javare Gowda B was born on 8th October, 1991 in Kallupalya village of\r\nRamanagara district in Karnataka. His father is Bore Gowda and mother is\r\nSakamma. He has an elder sister. Born to a farmer and a house wife, he was a kid\r\nborn with partial visual impairment. Because of partial visual impairment he was\r\nable to complete his education like all the other kids. He completed his schooling at\r\nSUS High School and joined SJ Government Polytechnic College and complete his\r\nDiploma in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. Then he pursued his education at\r\nDayananda Sagar College of Engineering. After his engineering, he worked as a\r\nguest lecturer at Yeshwanthpur Government ITI College. He joined Samarthanam\r\nin January 2019 & has been employed ever since. He has received many\r\naccolades. He was awarded the best NSS volunteer in 2013. His interest in cricket\r\ndeveloped over the years and has also been part of the Karnataka visually impaired\r\nteam for the past three years. He has also represented Karnataka in two National\r\nlevel tournaments. He also represented visually impaired Karnataka Kabaddi team\r\nin the Nationals held at Delhi in 2017. He has participated in multiple marathons in\r\nBengaluru. Hi all this is Nandeesha J I hail from Bangalore KR Puram Karnataka. My father\r\nname Janardana mother Annapurna. I started Sports in my childhood days I won 1st\r\ngold when i was in class 8th at National level Sports in Delhi. I was a captain for\r\nnational volleyball team volleyball. I got it Samarthanam sports acadey.I have\r\ncompleted 4 full marathon one Ultra marathon & ultra marathon of 150 kms from\r\nMysore to Bangalore which was organised by Samarthanam recently represented\r\nIndia in the International Marathon held in Bangkok, Thailand on 8th September\r\n2019 and finished 1st best in an event which had around 3,000 runners from all\r\nover the globe. Bhaskar K was born on 26th January 1997 in Narayanakere. His Father is Kallappa\r\n& Mother is Siddamma. He has one brother, younger to him. He was born a normal\r\nchild. When he was 9 months old he met with an accident when his mother cutting\r\nthe sticks were a piece of hit Bhaskar\'s left eye that his mom was cutting. The\r\ndamage was severe & he lost his sight in that eye. His right eye was not hurt but the\r\ninjury to the left eye did affect the vision of this eye to some extent. In the absence of\r\nsight in the left eye there is constant pressure on the right eye for sight. He feels that\r\nhis sight in the right eye was slowly diminishing. When he was fifteen years old, his\r\nuncle admitted him to the Samarthanam Trust for the disabled, to continue his\r\nhigher Education. Samarthanam trust supported very well in education as well as\r\nsports. He is very much interested in playing games, especially cricket. And he is\r\nalso runner, he won several medals in the state & Nationals in running. He is also\r\namarathon Runner. Bhaskar started playing cricket from the childhood & his\r\ncricketing career took off. Initially he had problem seeing the ball but he soon\r\novercame that. He was selected for the State Team in 2014. He was selected for\r\nNational team for Srilanka Tour in 2018. He Played Total 13 State Level\r\nTournaments, 15 National Tournaments and 8 International Matches.\r\nWe KN Group wish him a healthy long life and honoring him as YOUNG ACHIEVERS

Sridhar, 47, is a visually impaired musician since birth hails from Bangalore. He\r\ndeveloped a keen sense of music at an early age. Sridhar joined Samarthanam in\r\n2012, as music teacher. Having faced struggles such as poverty at an early stage\r\ndid not deter him from learning music despite his disability. He lost his father the\r\nsame year that compelled him to leave Bangalore and leave his job. He continued to\r\nperform in small events. He was offered an opportunity to join Samarthanam in\r\n2019 and has joined the troupe juggling roles as a singer and anchor. Sridhar enjoys\r\nanchoring over singing. He dreams of becoming a better singer while he struggles\r\nto feed his family amidst health challenges. Artists face discrimination, however at\r\nSamarthanam we provide the footstool to prove that their disabilities are no\r\nimpediment to having successful musical careers.
